The Laussel moon - the newest design in my silver range - is a nod to the Venus of Laussel, a bas-relief limestone carving estimated to be around 25,000 years old. The Venus holds high a crescent-shaped horn bearing thirteen notches. Whilst there might be scholarly debate as to the meaning, every women is familiar with the significance of the number thirteen. To honour the ancient Venus, each Laussel moon pendant bears exactly thirteen notches - a visual representation of the moons in a lunar year or a women’s cycle.
To make this pendant feel like a relic from an age long passed, she has been forged from raw silver using a traditional hammer and anvil. Each crescent moon is unique, every notch made with intent. She’s a powerful little reminder of the divine feminine in us all.
